In February 2025, several significant events took place in the field of organic farming, emphasizing the importance of this area for the sustainable development of agriculture both in Ukraine and in the world.
The Research Institute for Organic Agriculture (FiBL) and Agroscope have conducted a joint study that confirms that organic farming contributes to the preservation of biodiversity and increases soil fertility without negatively impacting the environment. The study highlights the environmental benefits of organic farming practices.
Restrictions have been introduced in the Bajdar Valley, allowing only organic farming, with a complete ban on the use of chemicals. The move is aimed at protecting the region’s unique nature and emphasizing the importance of environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
AGRIWELL participated in BioFach 2025, the world’s largest organic trade fair. This participation promotes sustainable development and knowledge exchange in organic farming, demonstrating the company’s commitment to environmental practices.
The global organic agriculture market continues to grow. The area under organic farming increased by 2.5 million hectares and the market volume reached 136 billion euros. This indicates a growing demand for organic products and an increased interest of consumers in environmentally friendly products.
Ukraine also has positive dynamics in the development of organic farming. The total area of agricultural land certified in accordance with the requirements of Ukrainian legislation in 2023 was 77,463 hectares. The number of organic market operators reached 152, of which 134 are agricultural producers. These data indicate the growing interest of Ukrainian farmers in organic practices and environmentally friendly production.
In 2025, it is planned to allocate about 1.5 billion hryvnias from the state budget, as well as 200 million dollars from international partners, such as the EU and the World Bank, to support organic agriculture in Ukraine. This makes the transition to organic production not only environmentally feasible, but also economically profitable for Ukrainian farmers.
These events highlight the importance of organic farming for both environmental protection and sustainable agricultural development. The growing interest in organic practices both in Ukraine and around the world demonstrates their promise and the need to implement them for future generations.
