Naturopathy, May 2025: Three news stories that change the perception of health — from a Ukrainian perspective

Naturopathy is no longer just alternative medicine. It is a direction that is actively integrated into evidence-based medicine, IT, genetics, and corporate health. And most importantly, Ukraine is becoming part of this revolution.

Here are three key events of May 2025 that demonstrate how the landscape of modern medicine and wellness is changing — including in Ukraine.

1. Kyiv Forum “Neuronutraceuticals and Mental Health”

News: For the first time in Ukraine, at the NUBiP and with the support of USAID, the International Forum on Neuronutriceuticals was held. The main focus was on practical studies of the effect of adaptogens (Rhodiola rosea, Ashwagandha, Bacopa) on reducing anxiety in war veterans and displaced persons. The presented results of Ukrainian clinical studies (Chebotaryov Institute of Gerontology and the Department of Psychiatry of Bogomolets National Medical University) confirmed the effectiveness of these drugs in reducing cortisol levels and improving sleep without side effects.

Why it’s important: This is not only a medical discovery, but also a social response to the current challenges of war. Ukrainian naturopathy is beginning to rely on its own data, and not only on Western sources. And this strengthens its legitimacy in the domestic medical community.

2. Ukrainian genetic tests in naturopathy: the example of “GENNADIUM BioTest”

News: Gennadium Company (Kyiv), together with BIOPHARMA and the Institute of Molecular Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, presented an updated set of genetic tests for nutrigenomics — BioTest N+. The novelty allows to determine individual needs for vitamins D, B9, B12, antioxidants and sensitivity to phytocomponents. The platform is actively used in private clinics in Kyiv, Lviv and Vinnytsia for drawing up personalized phytotherapeutic protocols.

Why it matters: This is direct confirmation that Ukraine is not lagging behind global trends. The idea of “health through DNA” is already working in practice. The integration of genetics into natural medicine opens up a new dimension — naturopathy becomes not only about herbs, but about accuracy and evidence.

3. Naturopathy in Ukrainian companies: a case from the IT sector

News: SoftServe has implemented regular consultations with a naturopath, detox plans, personalized herbal therapy, psychological practices, and nutritionist support into its corporate wellness program. According to the HR department, after 3 months, there was an 18% decrease in sick leave among IT employees, as well as improved mood and productivity.

Why it matters: This is the best social proof of the effectiveness of naturopathy. When serious Ukrainian businesses integrate such approaches, it breaks down stereotypes and forms new norms. Naturopathy becomes part of corporate culture — not just a fad, but a real investment in people.

What does this mean for Ukraine?

These examples are not exceptions. They indicate a fundamental shift. Naturopathy in Ukraine is no longer a marginal topic. It is included in medical universities, clinics, laboratories and HR departments of large companies. It receives support from scientists, business and international donors.

This opens up great opportunities for students, practitioners, and researchers of AVELIFE. Now is the time to shape a new model of health — at the intersection of nature and technology, personalization and evidence. May 2025 has become the point of no return. From now on, only forward.
