Results of 2025. How the logic of working with nature is changing

Live broadcast. Results of 2025 with the director of the AVELIFE Institute

2025 has become for us not just another year of activity, but a transition point — from individual ideas to a holistic system. If we briefly formulate the main conclusion of the year, it sounds like this: nature can no longer be “used” in fragments. We can either fight with it or work with it as a living, complex system.

Throughout the year, publications appeared on the AVELIFE platform that at first glance touched on different topics: soils, water, organic production, biological treatment, restoration of degraded areas. But if you look at them together, it becomes clear: this is not a set of articles, but the gradual compilation of a single picture.

Soil: from chemistry to biology

One of the central themes of 2025 was to rethink the very concept of soil. We are used to talking about it as a substrate – something inert, to which nutrients must be “added” every year. But in fact, soil is a living bio-mineral system in which microorganisms, organic matter, minerals and time play key roles.

In our materials, we have repeatedly emphasized: fertility is not an instant effect or a reaction to a dose of fertilizer. It is a cumulative process. When biological processes in the soil are started correctly, it begins to work on its own – to retain moisture, transform nutrients, support the plant in stressful conditions. And this is where the real economics of long-term agriculture appear.

Water as part of the ecosystem

Another important shift in 2025 is the view of water. Traditionally, water has been perceived as either a scarcity or a pollution problem. But in our publications, we have consistently shown a different approach: water is a managed ecosystem resource, not a separate infrastructure facility.

Biological treatment, the use of destructor microorganisms, natural sorbents, biosurfactants — all this is presented not as laboratory exotics, but as practical engineering solutions. Water, soil, and plants work together. If one link falls out, the system ceases to be sustainable.

Organic production without illusions

In 2025, we have consciously moved away from the romanticized image of organic farming. Organic farming is often presented as either a “fad” or as something expensive and inefficient. In reality, everything is much simpler and more rigorous.

Organics work when it is systemic. When there is an understanding of processes, economics, certification, risks and long-term benefits. In our materials we speak the language of numbers, regulations and practice. Not a belief in “clean”, but a technological model that begins to give results precisely at a distance.

Bioremediation and restoration

A special place in the publications of 2025 is occupied by the topic of bioremediation – the purification of soil and water from oil products, heavy metals, and man-made pollution. Especially in the post-war realities, this topic ceases to be theoretical.

We show that bioremediation is not a long and unmanageable process. It is a phased work with predictable results. And it is important that we are not only talking about ecology as such, but about returning land to economic circulation, about restoring the economic value of territories.

Systematicity as the main result of the year

If we sum up 2025 in one word, it is systemicity. All the materials of the year are united by a simple idea: individual solutions do not work in isolation from the context. Fertilizer without soil biology, purification without understanding the ecosystem, organics without economics — all of this is doomed.

AVELIFE has finally moved to the language of solutions in 2025. Where science is tested by the field, the field by numbers, and numbers by common sense.

A look into 2026

We enter the new year with a clear understanding: restoring nature is not a slogan or a fad. It is an engineering, scientifically based process. And today we already have not only concepts, but also a developed logic that can be scaled up — from local areas to comprehensive restoration programs.

The year 2025 has shown: when knowledge, practice, and responsibility converge at one point, a future emerges. Not an abstract one, but a completely applied one.
